Did you know?

Originally known as Goddard Gymnasium, Goddard Hall was built in 1883 to serve as a gym for the students of Tufts. It consisted of an open main floor and locker facilities in the basement. Beginning in 1897, two hours per week of gymnasium work was required of freshmen and sophomores from Thanksgiving until spring recess. At that time, Goddard Gymnasium provided the only large space suitable for holding dances or large gatherings, and was used for the commencement dinner each year. When the new Cousens Gymnasium was built, Goddard Gym was handed over to the newly formed The Fletcher School, and it became known as Goddard Hall.

Safety: Residence halls will be staffed and accessible. Stay safe: Do not walk alone in unlit areas. No candles or open flames.

Telephone: Blue light safety phones will continue to operate even if the blue light is not active. Landline phone service will likely be disrupted in some residence halls.

Residence Halls: The following residence halls now have power and heat: Carmichael (including Carmichael Lounge, with additional power strips available), Richardson, Stratton and West.

Meals: Saturday morning: Meal service is expected to be available at both Dewick and Carmichael.

Athletics: Gantcher, Cousens and Halligan now have heat and power and will be open as usual. Athletics programs are currently expected to continue as previously planned.

Parents Weekend: Programs will continue with some changes, especially to locations. Please see Parents Weekend website -- http://parentsprogram.tufts.edu/?pid=75 -- or visit Registration for details.

Admissions: Programs are expected to meet at Bendetson Hall as usual.

Parking: Dowling Hall garage is closed pending power restoration. Parking is available on campus surface parking. Please respect handicapped parking.

Researchers: Please be aware of the danger of power surges when power to campus is restored. Please take appropriate preventive measures (unplugging equipment, etc.) as possible.

3:08pm:
As a safety precaution, do not light candles in buildings during power outage. Street lights are out. Walk in groups if you must go out.

2:14pm:
Due to the power outages in Medford, there have been changes to the Parents Weekend schedule and some cancellations. Please review schedule for any updates: http://parentsprogram.tufts.edu/?pid=75

1:50pm:
